WELCOME FROM THE CHAIRMAN

On behalf of the 13th Australian Barley Technical Symposium organising committee, I have pleasure in inviting you to this premier event.

The 13th ABTS will bring together the barley production, research, marketing, feed and malting industries and provides the opportunity, particularly for Southern Hemisphere members to meet, discuss and collaborate on a range of emerging issues for the industry.

High calibre speakers will deliver industry relevant presentations on topics impacting on the barley industry including competitive performance, research advances, environmental change and industry deregulation.

While the technical program focuses on ensuring barley retains a competitive position in the global grain market, the symposium would not be complete without opportunities for socialising and networking. World renowned brewer Chuck Hahn will join forces with celebrated local restaurateur Chris Taylor on Monday evening, with a unique beer degustation event. The Gala Dinner on the Tuesday night, to be held in the historical Fremantle Prison, should not be missed. On Wednesday evening will be the ‘Fosters Finalé’ conclusion of the symposium, with the biennial Australian Barley Awards.
