MORNINGS: Wednesday 10 September and Thursday 11 September 2008, 7.30am
MID CONFERENCE session also available
Mindful movement and breathing are renowned for growing a more stable yet flexible sense of calm and improving mental clarity and concentration. When these are present, we tend to have better conditions and more options available for ourselves and in our interactions with others. This is in addition to the more obvious health benefits including greater physical comfort and flexibility, more resilience to the effects of stress and more energy.
Come as you are. These classes are open to all (beginners and those with experience). The classes will be a mix of gentle yoga and the Feldenkrais Method designed to work within the conference environment (no special equipment required, no special clothing required etc. Having said that, it would be useful if you are able to loosen your waistbands and/or belts in order that you can breathe and move a little more freely and if it is convenient bring a towel to lie on). Those with injuries are welcome to attend.
Usha Elderfield grew up in Indonesia, Burma, country W.A. and Perth. She studied literature at U.W.A. for three years and then embarked on an exploration of yoga, movement and meditation. She began teaching in 1996 and in 1999 started Yoga Moves. At the beginning of 2005, she commenced the four-year Feldenkrais Method training programme. In addition to the Yoga Moves classes which run each week at the Shenton Park studio, Usha has taught in numerous workplaces and schools throughout Perth and leads an annual yoga and meditation retreat overseas (Bali, Nepal, Vietnam and France).
