KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Greg Harris has experience across three football codes and has succeeded in a diverse range of professional appointments in sport and business. Most notably, Greg held the position of Executive Director of Sydney University Sport from 1992 until recently. In this position he was responsible for a multi-sport and multifunctional operation with a turnover of almost $20million per annum. Specifically the role included responsibility for sport development and operations, sponsorship, media, government liaison and facilities. Among his achievements was the A$7 million upgrade of the Sydney University Sports & Aquatic Centre. Greg has also held the position of Sydney Swans Match Committee Chairman (1994-1996) and was the Chairman of the National Rugby League’s Education & Welfare Committee from 2003-2008. Throughout his career Mr Harris has gained extensive experience in dealing with government on a multitude of levels. Testimony to this was his success in staging a national campaign on behalf of University Sport against the Federal Government’s Voluntary Student Unionism legislation. A multi-talented sportsman, Greg represented Sydney in rugby union and played First Grade for Sydney University between 1973 and 1977. His athletic ability extended to Australian Rules Football, where he captain-coached the NSW state team. |
