C&D Recycling is one of the major recyclers of construction and demolition waste currently operating in the Perth metropolitan area. Strategically located at Hazelmere, close to some of the busiest building and development sites, it provides builders and contractors with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to dumping recyclable materials in Perth’s overworked landfill sites. C&D Recycling markets three primary products: Clean Fill; Recycled Road Base (RCRB); and Recycled Drainage Aggregates. From most sites in the metropolitan area it is cheaper – and considerably quicker – to take waste to a recycling depot than to landfill. Over 96% of all waste delivered to C&D Recycling is converted to usable construction material. C&D Recycling is committed to leading the recycling industry in an environmentally and financially efficient manner.

The Hazelmere Timber Recycling Centre is WA’s only facility dedicated to the recovery and recycling of industrial timber waste. Run by the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) the Centre processes industrial timber waste into reusable woodchip which is currently used in the manufacture of particleboard, animal bedding, in compost and as coloured mulch.

Midland Brick’s active commitment to sustainability and the environment has most recently been acknowledged with two 2008 Keep Australia Beautiful WA Sustainable Cities Awards. These Awards recognise Midland’s innovative recycling program where old, broken and unwanted clay bricks, pavers and roof tiles are crushed back to their original state and reused in the manufacture of new product. In recycling these products, Midland Brick minimises mining and diverts waste materials from landfill. Additionally, the recycling from demolished houses through the Midland collection service allows large volumes in a single site to be recycled and significantly lowers builders and renovators disposal costs. Midland’s recycling program was recently also recognised with a 2008 WA Housing Industry Association (HIA) GreenSmart Award for Resource Efficiency.
