INVITED SPEAKERS:
Dr Cathryn Murphy is Managing Director of Infection Control Plus,
an independent, international infection control consulting company.
Cathryn's career highlights include working as a guest researcher in the
Division of Healthcare Quality and Infection Prevention at the CDC,
Georgia, USA in 2000 and serving as a consultant to the WHO in Southeast
Asia during the height of the 2003 SARS Outbreak.
Dr Rowan Gillies from Sydney, is the youngest ever International
Council President of the Nobel-Prize Winning Medecins Sans Frontieres.
Rowan has worked in the field for MSF in some of the world's most troubled
regions, including Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Liberia, Beirut,
Congo and Sri Lanka.
JUDITH CORNELL ORATION
Dr Judith Berry Judith has recently retired from her position as Nursing Director of the Operating Room Services at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH). During her long and distinguished career at the RAH, Judith has served on the Joanna Briggs Best Practice Research Committee, in addition to the RAH Research Ethics Committee. She is also a member of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia. During her term as ACORN President, Judith oversaw the transition of ACORN from a Confederation to a College, as well as other recommendations defined within the "Future Directions Survey" conducted by the ACORN members in 1997. Following her retirement as the College President in 2000, Judith was persuaded to remain on the ACORN Board, representing SA, and she held a position on the Marketing Committee. During her term as SA Director, Judith acted as ACORN Liason for the RN First Assistant role between the Southern Cross University and the College. She was instrumental in establishing communication with the College of Surgeons in respect to the RN First Assistant role. Judith was awarded with the SAPNA Life Membership in 2000 and in 2006 she was awarded the ACORN Excellence in Perioperative Nursing Award.
