A new National Action Plan for Education for Sustainable Development Since its release in July 2000 the National Action Plan has provided a framework for the Australian Government’s approach to environmental education nationally. In 2006, the Australian Government Department of the Environment and Heritage, in conjunction with the National Environmental Education Council, will develop a new National Action Plan for Education for Sustainable Development. Drawing on consultations with stakeholders, the Plan will set out the range of actions needed to contribute to the aims of education for sustainable development in Australia, within the context of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. An announcement on the development process will be made as this information becomes available. As the 2006 AAEE Biennial Conference coincides with the development of the new Plan, it provides an excellent opportunity for engagement and input on matters of national significance. |
