| 2. ELVERDS COTTAGE |

| This is Kojonup’s main historical building, dating from 1854. The Cottage is made up of just two 14’ x 13’ rooms. Acquired by the Elverd family’s ancestors in the 1880’s the Cottage has since been donated to the Kojonup Historical Society, courtesy of C Harrison, an Elverd family descendant. This is the only surviving pensioner guard cottage in Australia. |

| Races and polo were held here over the long week-end in January for many years before moving to Wandecla. Farrar railway siding boasted a set of stock yards for rail travelling sheep and cattle. |

| A delightful reserve of 40 acres in which children of the local school maintain the nine main walk trails each named appropriately - Dryandra Ridge, Casuarina Knoll, Quondong Grove, Sheoak Corner & so on, many smaller trails branch off leading the way to points of interest. |
| 6. GLEN LOSSIE |

| Everyone in Kojonup is familiar with the tale of the Ghost of Glen Lossie, which according to tradition is the ghost of McHenry Clark, who was shot in 1908 and who returns to haunt the end room. An old stone shed and group of houses are the remains of an experimental research station for CSIRO from just after World War II. |
| 7. HERITAGE HARNESS DISPLAY |

A fine collection of horse harnesses belonging to Stafford Pederick and dating back to the days when the horse was a working animal on the farm. | Built as a Post Office in 1897 and remained until the present post office in the main street was built (1913). The building was used as headmasters house for the school next door and was also used as a private residence. |

| KNUTSFORD CATTLE CENTRE |

| Established in 1978 at Walshes Cattle Complex as a show place for stud cattle. It is the only cattle sales complex in the Southern Hemisphere and as many as 170 thorough bred bulls have been entered in trials. |

A beautiful body of fresh water, thought to be the largest crater of a meteorite shower. The river was restored to its original bed after many years so as to maintain the freshness of the lake and forms part of the Blackwood Catchment area. |

| As you cross the Balgarup River coming into Muradup, the sports ground is on your left. The Muradup Easter sports carnival was held there until the mid 1960’s. |
| 15. MURADUP TOWNSITE |

| Originally for ganger town railway workers. Muradup Co-Op started in 1910 and remained as such until the Bosman family took over in 1990. Muradup Co-Op started the Boyup Brook & Kojonup Co-Op’s. The school closed in 1970, the weather shed now used at the tennis courts. The school building was transported to Chowerup school. The Hall was built in 1908 and the water laid on in 1992. |
| 16. OLD MILITARY BARRACKS |

| The Barracks are the oldest military building still standing in WA. Originally constructed from felled timber in the 1830’s, and later stone in 1845, the building has been put to many uses over the years; as soldiers’ quarters, a school room, and as a private residence. It now houses Kojonup’s Museum. The two pepper trees out the front were planted in 1902 by a Kojonup teacher, Mr Young. |

| 20. QUALEUP TOWNSITE |

| The development which never really flourished, despite boasting a 9 hole golf course and store, Qualeup was perhaps best know for fantastic dances held in the hall. Stick yards, which can still be seen there, were the norm for all the small sidings for holding stock. |

| The railway which ran from Katanning to Kojonup was completed in 1907 at a cost of £1,196 per mile. The station was built in 1912 when the railway from Boyup Brook to Kojonup was completed. This section was closed in 1982 due to flooding; no longer economically viable, the remainder of the railway was also closed in 1982. |
