SHIRE OF CHITTERING
The Shire of Chittering, only 50 km north of Perth, is one of the prettiest in the
state. The Shire includes Muchea, Lower Chittering Valley, Wannamal & Bindoon.
Visitors will see vineyards, orange groves, race horse studs & sheep and cattle
properties among the fertile valleys of the Darling Ranges. The area was one of
the first in the State to be developed by European settlers, with George
Fletcher Moore selecting the first property in the valley in 1841. Intermingled
with sheep & cattle farms are large forests of wandoo, marri & jarrah, as well as
some of the most magnificent wildflowers in the world.
