The coastal town of Seabird, in the Midlands region, was originally established to service the growing fishing industry.

The beach at Seabird offers a safe swimming spot and is also popular with windsurfers and for boating and fishing. Fishing has long been a major attraction at Seabird and at nearby Lancelin and Ledge Point.
